Problems.

Sun Jan 25, 2009, 7:03 AM
So much, let so little. My ideas seem like gold, but turn to dust after only a moments thought. I write a chapter, than another, then i run into problems. Even the story that i had extreamly high hopes for (the heir of heaven and hell) is flopping in the water.

so now i must ask. What should you do when the idea that seemed like gold begins to tarnish? Do i try and desperatly bring back the shine, or move onto the next idea and pick the old one up again at some other time, when i can approach it from a new angle? Mostly my problem is that i want to make major changes, but if i do, it will make the story different for whoever has read it. I have a feeling of obligation to the readers, but i also feel like i want to make my idea shine again.

What should i do? Has anyone else had this problem before? This problem of deciding to make a change to a story that will take hours to try and make continues, such as changing major character names or backgrounds, and might even throw readers off?

I want to make my work the best it can be, but i also don't want to have to make the reader re-read everything each time i get the urge to change a character in some way.

So now i true ask, no, plead for someone to share some insight into this problem. Just a shred of wisdom from someone who may have had a similar experience.
